Charles Rennie Mackintosh “Ingram” Dining Chairs for Cassina, 1981

Description

Charles Rennie Mackintosh “Ingram” dining chairs for Cassina, ash and fabric, United Kingdom, 1981, set of six.

The “Ingram” chair reflects Mackintosh’s style and fearless approach to challenging manufacturing processes. Designed for the White Room and the Cloister Room at the Ingram Street tea rooms Glasgow, this iconic model features linear geometric forms that achieve a striking visual impact. The structure combines curves and straight lines, round and rectangular shapes that recall the neo-Gotic taste. A succession of vertical wooden lines defines the back, and the rounded details on the top further enrich the design. The seat is upholstered with the original satin and patinated fabric. Each chair is marked with the Cassina and Mackintosh signature underneath.
