Frank Lloyd Wright “Robie” chairs for Cassina, original black leather, Italy, 1986, set of two
This chair’s rigorous design exemplifies Frank Lloyd Wright’s design ethos. It’s recognizable in the tall backs, strong uprights and the use of wood, typical of the furniture designed for his prairie houses. Created for the dining room of Frederick C. Robie’s house in 1908, Wright aimed to define and create a more intimate area around the dining table. The seat is upholstered with the original black leather.
