Tobia Scarpa “Pigreco” Dining Chairs for Gavina, Black Leather, 1960, Set of 6

Description

Tobia Scarpa “Pigreco” dining chairs for Gavina, leather and walnut, Italy, 1960, set of six.

Created for the furniture design course of Franco Albini, the “Pigreco” chair has an iconic and elegant design. It features a curved walnut back and a rear paired foot, while two lateral crosspieces support the padded seat. The “Pigreco” evokes the genres of the tub chair and the three-legged chair, but its evident formal qualities have made it a historical-critical success.
