Osvaldo Borsani mirrored bar cabinet, variant of model “5142”, unique piece for Arredamenti Borsani, walnut, mirrored glass and brass, Italy, 1939.
The creative mind merged with the art of craftsmanship of Osvaldo Borsani is explicitly visible in this Art Deco mirrored bar cabinet, a unique piece custom-made for a Villa in 1939 in Lake Como, Italy. Inspired by the model “5142” and entirely hand-made, this cabinet is perched elegantly on a wooden carved Decò wave base, showing timeless sophistication. The powerful Ace of Spades detail on each handle adds a touch of intrigue, reminiscent of an era filled with mystery and allure. Crafted with mid-century modern charm, its glass and mirrored surfaces capture the essence of opulence. Internal vertical golden mosaic strips adorn the polished mahogany structure, while a delicate feather door reveals its inner treasures. Inside, Borsani showcases a meticulously designed layout with four compartments and an exquisite retractable crystal shelf. Gilt brass fittings add a regal finish, merging modernity with vintage glamour. While also other renowned Italian designers of the age, like Gio Ponti and Paolo Buffa, produced some cabinets, none of them could reach the grace and ability of Osvaldo Borsani. This bespoke cabinet effortlessly complements various decor styles, making it a coveted classy centerpiece for any ambiance.
