Carried by the ineluctable human attraction towards the past, Modernab brings a new, original vision on the Mid-Century Modern Design world. The starting point is a curated selection of high-end furniture from the 20th century. Enhancing such historical pieces in contemporary spaces and concrete dimensions, we want to bring an unconventional point of view on modern and contemporary objects.
For forty years Afra and Tobia worked together; then, since 2000, Tobia has continued on his own, still designing objects, lamps, furniture, still designing and building houses, restoration projects, industrial complexes. It is difficult, and perhaps senseless, to try to identify the differences between the work done together and the work done individually.
With respect for the tension between old and new, the revitalization project for our showroom is defined by a stair which is seemingly suspended in perfect balance within the space, independent from the slab and the walls.
We are focused on constant and meticulous research of design furniture from the 20th century, with a new perspective on selected contemporary items.
